Joseph Theis has spent his career protecting the brands, copyrights, and creative work that make his clients' businesses recognizable — and defensible. As co-founder of Theis Chayse LLP, he handles trademark registration, opposition and cancellation proceedings, and enforcement matters for clients across a range of industries, and has been published twice in World Trademark Review for his work on emerging trademark issues.

Alongside his trademark work, Joseph also represents authors, financial institutions, and content creators on copyright matters, and has advised the Library of Congress and U.S. Copyright Office on how copyright law should adapt to artificial intelligence. As counterfeiting and infringement have moved online, he has also developed strategies to fight cybersquatting and digital brand abuse, keeping clients' identities protected wherever they show up. He earned his J.D. from the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America, and remains active writing and speaking on IP law today.
